More than $11,000 was raised by individuals and teams for the annual event. According to safety divers on site, the water temperature was 40 degrees at plunge time. Polar Plunge is a fundraiser for Special Olympics Arkansas for which individuals and teams raise money,then take the plunge into various bodies of cold water.

More than 100 teams from four states with players between 10 and 14 years old are playing in the weekend tournament at two sites. Pool play continues today at 8 a.m. in the convention center and the new Fort Smith Juniors Facility, 5709 S. 73rd Place. Macie is the daughter of Shannon and Chuck Grams and plays for the Fort Smith 10-1 team.
