BRIAN D. SANDERFORD TIMES RECORD / Clarence Smith Jr., center, with the River Valley Regional Food Bank assists Twana Maestri with Arkansas Best Corporation U-Pack and Dustin Dacus with ABF Multi Modal as they load containers of donated food on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013. Smith was collecting at several food drive locations including the Ashley Furniture parking lot where a community food drive takes place noon - 6 p.m. through Saturday. We are needing community wide action to help us feed the need in our 5,400 sq. mile service area. We are in desperate need of protein such as turkeys and chicken. Our plea for protein for the Holidays has not yet been answered by food manufacturers. At this time, we have exhausted all of our resources looking for nutritious meats to provide the hundreds of families that are in need. We are calling on the community to once again step up to help us feed our neighbors, Smith said. The RVRFB will also be set up today to collect turkeys and other food items at the Rogers Ave. Wal-Mart from 4:30-7 p.m.
